COLEGIO REAL DE PANAMA is Bilingual Catholic Private School enrolling 750 students in grades Pre K to 12th grade, classes hold a maximum of 27 students per class, in order to make a more effective teaching environment. The school opened in the year 1998 and graduated its first senior class in December on 2010. Is officially approved by the Ministry of Education of Panama and holds membership in the College Board. Our school year runs from early March through mid December.
For more than 25 years Colegio Real de Panama (CRP) has been giving students an education based upon high quality standards, preparing our graduates to continue their education in Panama or abroad. Teachers come to CRP drawn to a modern, dynamic and effective educational philosophy. We work with a vision towards becoming a role model school for Panama and the rest of the world. Our broad and balances program of study is skilled-focused and develop pupils´ critical thinking and analytical skills, their ability to communicate ideas effectively, teamwork and values.
The Early Childhood Program is designed to aid in the social, emotional, and physical development of each child in an academically stimulating environment; we hold an image of the child as strong, powerful, and capable of becoming an active protagonist in his own learning processes.
The Elementary School curriculum’s major emphasis is given to the development of communication skills in English and Spanish including reading/writing and speaking/listening. The academic program also includes mathematics, science, social studies, music, art, physical education, and computer science.
Our Middle School serves as a nurturing bridge between Elementary School and High School, with a responsive and well-developed program that includes a counselor dedicated solely to middle school students.
Colegio Real de Panamá recognizes that the middle grades are essential building blocks for a successful academic performance in high school and college. Keeping this in mind, the middle school curriculum solidifies supportive structures and responsive practices that help students during this critical age period, which develops their maximum potential.
The High School Program is divided in three major areas:
Humanities: In this area we focus on those subjects that allow the formation of values, ideas, interpretations and skills for life, spiritually and socially. It includes the following subjects: Spanish, English, History, World History, Human Geography, Economic and politic Geography, Philosophy, Logics, Ethics and Values, Civics, Fine Arts, Psychology, and English and Spanish Literature.
Sciences: The subjects on this area lead to the formation of core subjects applied to different areas of knowledge. This subjects are considered fundamental for the development of a graduate who aspire to pursue studies on any of the vast areas of the science field. Subjects like: Trigonometry, Analytic Geometry, Calculus, Physics, Chemistry, Biology, Physical Education, Research Methods and Computer Science, are included on our curriculum.
Administration: With the perspective of forming successful entrepreneurs, we included this area of studies as a complement of our complete curriculum. Among the subjects we consider our graduates should be acquainted with, we include: Business Management, Accountings, Marketing and Project Management. Since this area is just and emphasis and not a specialization, it represents only the 10.68 % of our Academic Curricula.
None of our courses are elective, they are all offered as advance courses and every single student is required to take them and pass them in order to graduate. Ranking is un weighted.
Besides our emphasis on academics our ideal of education includes the fields of artistic and cultural expressions. Activities such as plays, art exhibits, talent shows, and others, are an integral part of the CRP experience, where we cherish and nurture the many talents our students have and encourage them to fulfill their potential.
